Benjamin Hardy

LINCOLNVILLE – Benjamin Hardy, 61, of Lincolnville, Maine, died suddenly at home on Jan. 20, 2026. Born in Camden on May 27, 1964, he was the son of Willard ‘Swiss’Hardy, Sr. and Nancy (Kingsbury) Hardy.

A 1982 graduate of Camden Rockport High School, he was an avid member of the wrestling team. He earned an A.S. from Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute and a B.S. from the University of Maine at Orono in 1994. He was a member of the Tau Epsilon Phi (TEP) fraternity. A Senior Applications Engineer, he has worked at Kepware Technologies/PTC in Portland, ME for the last 20 years.

Ben loved being outdoors. He spent hours on the trails of the Camden Hills in all kinds of weather, often with his beloved dog, Timber. For many summers he volunteered for a week of trail work on the Appalachian Trail. He was an AT through hiker in 1995 and successfully finished on Mt. Katahdin that November. He enjoyed riding his bicycle almost as much as he enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. As a kid, he loved swimming in Lake Megunticook and playing in the brook at the farm. As an adult, Coleman Pond drew him in on the hot days in Lincolnville.

In recent years, Ben became interested in real estate investing and spent time researching properties and learning more about property management.

Ben was a kind and gentle soul. He cared about people and went out of his way to give a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. At home, he was quick to shovel, take the trash to the dump, vacuum or say thank you. He loved animals, especially his dogs, Mir and Timber. Timber was his soulmate and left a hole in his life when he died in 2024. Ben cared about nature. He enjoyed seeing the deer in the yard and the birds on the feeder, spending time in the woods, bushwhacking on the mountain behind the family farm and eating lobster with friends and family at the camp on Coleman Pond.

Surviving are his three siblings, Stephen Hardy and his wife Jane of Lincolnville, Willard Hardy, Jr. and his partner Suzanne Webber of Newton, Mass., and Lisa Hagin and her husband Linwood of Travelers Rest, SC; his four niblings, Joshua Hardy and his wife Denise of Butte, AK, Eli Hardy and his wife Kate of Charlton, Mass., Heather Heavner and her husband Caleb of Colorado Springs, Colo., and David Hagin and his wife Nichole of Williamston, SC; and his former wife Gretchen Hardy of Wilmington, NC. He was predeceased by his brother Jeffrey Daniel Hardy.
