The deadline to apply for the Joseph A. DiPietro Scholarship is March 31. The scholarship is open to students in communities served by the Portland Water District and who are pursuing a career applicable to the water and wastewater industry.
Careers include wastewater treatment technology, HVAC, electrical, automation technology, instrumentation, plumbing, pipefitting, fire science, environmental studies, applied sciences, engineering and public administration.
The Joseph A. DiPietro Scholarship was established in 2003 in memory of the businessman and longtime Portland Water District trustee.

The American Journal reported on Feb. 11, 1976, that Harry Aiken, of Mosher Road, and Ronald Grondin, Lower Main Street, attended a seminar for construction workers in Phoenix, Arizona. They visited the Caterpillar heavy equipment proving ground in Phoenix and Las Vegas.
