Kevin Graham

WELLS – Kevin Graham, fondly known as “Unk,” or “Bapa,” by his granddaughter, and “Doc,” by his friends and colleagues, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and school psychologist, passed away peacefully on Feb. 20, 2026, surrounded by family. He was 79.

Kevin was born on Feb. 25, 1946, in Rockville Centre, N.Y., and raised in Valley Stream, the youngest of three sons of Edward and Helen Graham. He was the captain of the St. Agnes Cathedral School football team and a gifted, lifelong athlete.

After graduating from Fairfield University, Kevin earned advanced degrees from Alfred and Lehigh universities, including a doctorate in clinical psychology. He went on to build a long career as a school psychologist. He was known for his humor, steady presence, thoughtful guidance, and deep commitment to helping children and families. He worked in public schools and private practice for over 40 years in East Hampton, N.Y., and Maine, where he retired.

Kevin met Kathy on a blind date in 1973, and they were happily married for 52 years. Together, they made their home in East Hampton, N.Y., where they raised their children, Kate, Will, and Molly. He spent summers in Dexter, Maine, first as a camper, later as a counselor, and then with his own family, including his brothers and their families, as they swam, boated, played tennis, and trekked in nearby mountains. He loved hiking, tennis, golf, platform tennis, and mystery books. He was an avid reader, and his insightful responses were often sought by friends who were writers. He frequently worked pro bono to provide support and guidance to adolescents and young adults who had no means to hire a counselor.

“He bettered so many lives around him. He was a role model as a parent, husband, and friend. His support and guidance navigated many throughout the years. He made all our lives enjoyable and fun,” said Claude Beudert, a close family friend.

He is survived by his wife, Kathy; his children, Will and Molly; his granddaughter, Charley, who brought him immense pride and daily joy; his two older brothers, Ed and Larry; and many nieces and nephews with whom he shared a close relationship.

He was predeceased by his daughter, Kate.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 14, at Bibber Memorial Chapel, 67 Summer St., Kennebunk.
