Thressa J. Wengland
GORHAM – Our beloved mother, Thressa J. Wengland, passed away peacefully after a short illness on Monday, March 2, 2026, surrounded by her family. She was 88 years young and the heart of our family.
Born in Portland, she found joy in her family and many friends. She was known to everyone as “Gram” and always had a kind word to say.
She was a lifetime member of The Order of Eastern Star, Rebekahs, and The Daughters of the Nile.
She enjoyed her church family at the Cressey Road Christian Church and worked in the church library and sang in the choir for many years.
She enjoyed crocheting and knitting, and always crocheted baby sets for all who needed or wanted them. She also made blankets for each of the grandkids and great-grandkids. She thrived on doing things for others.
She is survived by her children, Joyce Allen (her husband David) and Steven Wengland; her eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Wengland; and her son, Joseph Wengland.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Cressey Road Christian Church on Saturday June 20 at 3 p.m.
Online condolence messages can be submitted at the Poitras Funeral Homes website, http://www.mainefuneral.com.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to her beloved Cressey Road Christian Church, Gorham.
