Candidates’ nomination papers for elected municipal positions in Standish are available in the Town Clerk’s Office at 175 Northeast Road and must be filed by 4:30 p.m. on April 13.
Three Town Council openings are available for three-year terms; a pair of three-year budget committee seats and one for two years; and three planning board seats, all three year-terms.
Available Town Council seats are those of current Chair John Gardner, Area 2; Robert Deakin, Area 4; and Philip Pomerleau, at-large.
Planning board seats expiring are now held by Carolyn Biegel, Area 1; Patrick Gere, Area 3; and Vice Chair Frank Nappi, at-large.
For the budget committee, the opening seats now belong to Chair Heidi Watson along with Robert McFerren and Christopher Finley, who were appointed.
The school board at Maine School Administrative District 6 has a three-year, at-large seat available for a Standish resident as the term of John Sargent is expiring. Papers can be picked up at either Town Hall or the school district’s central office at 94 Main St. in Buxton.
Nominations papers for the school seat became available in February.
The deadline for submitting school nominations with the town’s registrar of voters to have signatures verified is 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 17. Then papers are taken by March 26 to the MSAD 6 central office. For more information, call the office at 929-3831.
Besides Standish, other MSAD 6 towns are Buxton, Hollis, Frye Island, and Limington.
Election Day for both the town and the school board is set for June 9.
