From high school productions to Broadway favorites, there are plenty of opportunities to catch a show over the next few months in the Midcoast. Here are a few notable selections in Brunswick and beyond.

‘The Taming of the Shrew’

March 20 through April 4 at the Theater Project in Brunswick

William Shakespeare’s classic comedy takes the stage starting on March 20 at 14 School St. in Brunswick. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for students and seniors, and $18 for kids.

‘Below the Belt’

March 19-29 at 17 Court St., Belfast

This production by Richard Dresser follows workers in a corporate dystopia. Tickets are $18 for students and seniors, and $20 for general admission.

‘Legally Blonde: The Musical’

March 20-22 and March 27-28 at Crooker Theater at Brunswick High School

What? Like it’s hard?

Come see the iconic Elle Woods, her sorority sisters and law school companions in “Legally Blonde” starring the Brunswick High School players. Tickets are $17 for adults, $15 for seniors and $12 for students.

‘The Wizard of Oz, Youth Edition’

March 21-22 and 28-29 at Freeport Performing Arts Center

Travel somewhere over the rainbow with this beloved classic presented by the Cumberland County Children’s Theatre. Tickets are on sale online for $13.50.

‘The Play that Goes Wrong’

April 3-5 and April 10-12 at Chocolate Church Arts Center in Bath

“Actors who can’t act, a corpse that won’t stay dead, and a mystery that’s impossible to solve” reads the description of this murder mystery/ comedy coming to Bath’s Chocolate Church in April. Tickets are $23.86 in advance.

‘The Knight at Dawn (kids)’ and ‘Something Rotten! Jr.’

Double-feature performances on April 9-12 at Crooker Theater

In this double feature, Midcoast Youth Theater performers from kindergarten through sixth grade will star in “The Knight at Dawn,” based on Mary Pope Osborn’s beloved “Magic Tree House” books. They will be followed by seventh- through 12th-grade students in “Something Rotten!,” a musical comedy about the very first musical. Tickets coming soon.

Midcoast Youth Theater will also present “Shrek the Musical” at Crooker on May 7-10.

‘Singin’ in the Rain’

April 11-12 at the Camden Opera House

Presented by Camden Ballet Theatre, this show promises classic Hollywood glamour and high-energy tap numbers. Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 for 12 and under.

Coming up: Maine State Music Theatre season

Maine State Music Theatre in Brunswick kicks off its main stage season on June 3 with “Hairspray.” MSMT will also present “1776,” “Frozen” and “Come From Away” this season on the main stage.
