Clifford Hatch

PORTLAND – Clifford Hatch, 84, of Portland, passed peacefully on March 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born March 3, 1942, he was the son of Lawrence and Eva Hatch. Clifford was a 1960 graduate of Deering High School and earned his degree from the USM in 1964. He served six years as a sergeant in the Maine Army National Guard.

July 1964, he married the love of his life, Nancy Ames. Together, they raised two sons, Scott and Todd, and were blessed with five grandchildren, Payton, Cady, Hadley, Connor, and Carter, who were the joy of Clifford’s life.

Clifford spent 24 years with the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors before owning the Old Port Sandwich Shop, fondly known as “Cliff’s Place,” for 16 years. He then worked as a custodian for the Town Hall of Scarborough then moved to the police department retiring in 2024.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy; sons Scott (Diana) and Todd (Jen Marsh); his grandchildren; sisters Carolyn Boyd and Cynthia Huff; brother-in-law, Jim Ames; and many beloved nieces, nephews; and extended family, Donna McGreevy.

A Celebration of Clifford’s life will be held Friday, March 27, with visiting hours from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a Memorial Service at 12 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. Burial will follow at Brooklawn Memorial Park in Portland.
