Someone riding a snowmobile between Feb. 26 and 28 left a marked trail and went through a roped-off area before they ran over small trees and saplings at Pierson Nurseries in Dayton, the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife said in a social media post Tuesday.

About $21,000 in damages was caused, the department said, and a $2,000 reward is being offered in exchange for information that leads to the arrest of the person responsible.

The Saco Pathfinders Snowmobile Club and Maine Snowmobile Association each pitched in $500 toward the reward and the remaining $1,000 is being contributed by Maine Operation Game Thief, the department said.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Maine Warden Service at 207-624-7076 or contact Maine Operation Game Thief at MaineOGT.org.
