James “Michael” Kemp

LIMERICK – James “Michael” Kemp, 67, passed away peacefully on April 8, 2026, at the former Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford.

Mike was born on Feb. 2, 1959 in Roanoke, Va. to parents James and Margaret Kemp.

During his younger years, Mike graduated from high school in Connecticut and continued his education by receiving his bachelor’s degree. He worked as an EMT for a number of years and then went to work at Memic as a Workers Compensation Auditor for 25-plus years and retired doing what he enjoyed.

Mike loved watching the wildlife in his yard-his favorite was watching the squirrels outside his window, being a part of the Lions Club organization, traveling, drinking Diet Coke, listening to Jimmy Buffett and the Beach Boys and his favorite, spending time with his family who he loved dearly. He had a very big heart and would help anyone that needed it.

Mike was preceded by his parents James and Margaret Kemp.

He is survived by his daughter, Lauren Kemp of Limerick and her fiancé Timothy Davis; his siblings, David and his wife Sandy of Georgia, Allen and his wife Carolyn of Connecticut and Karen and her husband Robert “Bob” of Connecticut; and many family and friends that will miss him dearly.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday April 14 from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Poitras, Neal & York Funeral Home, 71 Maple St., Cornish. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday April 15 at 10 a.m. at St. Matthew’s Church, Dora Lane, Limerick. Deacon Paul Lissandrello will officiate. Burial will be at a later time in Limerick.
