A New Hampshire man was arrested last week for allegedly starting a fire on his grandfather’s property in the York County town of Lebanon.

The Lebanon Fire Department responded to the fire on Upper Barley Road on April 6 and requested assistance from the State Fire Marshal’s Office around 2 p.m., Shannon Moss, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Public Safety, said in a news release Tuesday.

Four vehicles in a wooded lot had been destroyed by the fire and the investigation determined the cause was arson, Moss said.

An arrest warrant was issued for Jayce Racicot, 27, of Rochester, New Hampshire, and he was arrested by police there on Friday, Moss said.

Racicot’s grandfather owns the property where the fire occurred, Moss said, and owned three of the four vehicles it destroyed.

Racicot was being held in New Hampshire as of Tuesday pending a fugitive from justice hearing, according to Moss.

The York County Sheriff’s Office aided in the investigation.
