1. Windham: The 2025 Class A champions ended last year on a 16-game winning streak, and the Eagles’ momentum hasn’t diminished over the offseason. Senior attack Abby Trainor is back after her Varsity Maine Player of the Year campaign (93 goals, 33 assists), VM All-State selection Neve Ledbetter (105 draw controls, 39 goals, 43 assists) returns to dominate the draw and control the midfield, and senior defender Brianna Duarte will anchor a unit that only allowed 5.4 goals per game. Coach Matt Perkins will rely on five other seniors (Maddy Donnelly, Alyssa Cooper, Olivia McPherson, Demetria Nicholas, Elizabeth Baker) as Windham aims for its second straight title.

2. Kennebunk: The Rams were undefeated until falling to Windham in the Class A final, but with 17 players returning, including 2025 All-Americans Camdyn Keenan (56 goals, 90 assists), Helen Kennie (52 goals, 11 assists) and Anna McCarron (89 career points), Kennebunk is looking to return to the peak. Coach Annie Barker can turn to her experienced and knowledgeable seniors to guide her younger players. Julianna Urban will provide support in the attack, and Alexandra Foy will patrol the midfield. Madeline Dowling, Charlotte Johnson and Ayla Plamondon will help on defense (5.6 goals/game allowed), protecting goalies Brielle Thompson and Eliza Nass.

3. Greely: The Rangers were one game away from reaching their fifth straight Class B title game last year before falling to eventual champion Freeport in double-overtime, and Becca Koelker’s squad is motivated to overcome that defeat. The starting defensive unit that allowed 6.1 goals per game returns — Avery Bush, Sophia Litte and Grace Tyll in front of goalie Liv Clark. Audrey Ingersoll, Kelsey Crocker and Abby Collins are experienced midfielders who can initiate a well-balanced offense. Sophomore attack Hadley Hatch and freshman midfielder Makenna Seaver are also expected to contribute.

4. Yarmouth: For the first time since 2012, the Clippers did not play in a state final last year. The 13 returners on the roster are trying to make that shortfall a one-off. Senior midfielder Celia Zinman (78 points, 60 draw controls, 27 caused turnovers) can make her presence known in any phase of the game. Coach Dorothy Holt expects six other seniors to be impact players —returning goalie Molly Vickers, defenders Erin O’Connor and Lee Forrest, midfielders Kiera Cowans and Sydni Nueslein, and Metta Linsday at attack.

5. Freeport: The Falcons were the only lacrosse team in Maine, boys or girls, to end the 2025 season undefeated. A similar 17-0 outcome may be tough to repeat after the graduation of nearly 60% of their offense (Mia Levesque and Lana DiRusso), but playing late into June is still likely with a roster full of big-game experience. Elsa Klein and Abby Cormier are two of 16 seniors and will be relied on for leadership in the attack and on defense, respectively, while junior midfielders Ella Tracy and Sophie Simard will be impactful on both ends.
