A Bath women’s clothing store has moved into a larger storefront, offering a wider selection of women’s lingerie, loungewear, and sleepwear.

On Feb. 4, Over the Moon Boutique made the leap over to its new location at 47 Centre St., promoting the relocation through Instagram and email updates. It is the second store to expand into a new location in Bath in the past few months, as Maine Street Mercantile Design and MFG Co. made a similar move at the turn of the new year.

Over the Moon’s new storefront used to be a dry cleaners, but had sat vacant for five years prior to the lingerie store moving in. The boutique has been at 96 Front St. since 2017 and has been increasing its product line over the years.

Over the Moon received a $12,500 Fit Up Grant to cover the moving expenses and part of the renovations inside the new space. The store expanded its fitting rooms from two to three, with each room available for one-on-one bra fittings.

“I don’t want a woman to have to come in and have a bra ordered; I want to normalize every woman’s size and shape,” owner Bette Spettel said.

Roughly 85% of women living in the United States are wearing the wrong bra size, which can lead to shoulder and back problems, according to Spettel. Over the Moon’s bra sizes range from 28B to 48O, whereas most stores stop at a triple D–cup size.

Over the Moon plans to host bridal showers, wellness workshops for women, and get togethers for female business owners once a month.

“We see beauty in every woman, or every person that comes in here, and they feel very supported in all ways,” Spettel said.
