Devin Berry, South Portland junior: The Class A indoor hurdles champ, Berry is the top returner in the 110 high hurdles (third in Class A) and will also be a top threat in the 300 hurdles. He’ll be a key component for a squad looking for a third straight Class A team title.

Ali Carter, Falmouth senior: Carter is the reigning SMAA and Class A champion in the 400, with a best time of 48.78 seconds last season. One of two returning 2025 Varsity Maine All-State performers, Carter was also an All-State pick this past indoor season.

Rocco Ciccomancini, Deering senior: One of the captains for a team capable of a top-five finish in Class A, Ciccomancini has been on the cusp of the top three in the deep and fast Class A sprinting ranks. This winter, he placed fourth in both the 55 and 200. Last spring, he was fourth in the 200 and seventh in the 100.

Kannon Crocker, Greely junior: One of the top returners for the defending Class B outdoor champion, Crocker won the Class B indoor 200 title to help Greely repeat as team champion. Last spring, he was fifth in the 100, was part of Greely’s second-place 400 relay team and took seventh in the 200.

Jack Cyr, Gorham junior: Cyr’s specialty is the 400. He won the Class A indoor title and was second outdoors to Ali Carter last spring. He’ll also look to be competitive in the other sprints and help the Rams’ relay teams. Cyr placed fifth in the indoor 200 at the Class A meet.

Bossay Ditanduka, South Portland senior: Ditanduka stepped into the spotlight at the Class A indoor championships, when he beat Carter and Bonny Eagle’s Drew Gervais to win the 200 meters in a meet-record 22.14, anchored South Portland’s record-setting 800 relay team, and was second in the 55 as the Red Riots won the team title. He’ll compete in the three sprint races and the long jump.

Christopher Dimino, York senior: Coming off a Class B indoor title in the 55, Dimino will look to improve on his junior year efforts, when he placed fifth in the 100 and ran the anchor leg for the Wildcats’ sixth-place 400 relay team.

Jacob Evelath, Fryeburg Academy senior: Evelath should be among the top contenders in the 100 and 200. At the Class B indoor championship, he placed fourth in the 100 and was nipped by Kannon Crocker in the 200. Last spring, he was ninth in the 100, just missing the final, and sixth in the 200.

Will Fagan, York senior: Fagan is coming off an indoor season in which he won the Class B shot put by over 4 feet with a toss of 52 feet, 9 1/4 inches. He’s Class B’s top returning shot putter outdoors (third last year), and will also compete in the javelin and discus.

Drew Gervais, Bonny Eagle junior: Gervais is the other returning Varsity Maine All-State outdoor track athlete, along with Ali Carter. He burst on the scene last spring with sub-11-second 100s and historically fast (21.74) times in the 200. He finished second in both events behind since-graduated record holder Andre Clark of Marshwood. Indoors, Gervais won the Class A 55 dash and was third in 200.

Alex Gilbert, Freeport senior: At last year’s Class B outdoor meet, Gilbert ran second to triple-distance winner Sam Laverdiere of Lake Region in the 1,600 and 3,200 and was fourth in the 800. Gilbert will be key for the Falcons, a likely contender for the team title. At the Class B indoor championship, he won the mile and was second in the 800 and 2-mile.

Ian Britt, Mt. Ararat senior: Britt is this year’s top returner in the 1,600 race walk. When he’s not competing at prestigious meets like the Penn Relays, he’ll be with the Eagles and should defend his Class A title.

Atticus Merriam, Scarborough junior: Merriam is right in the mix among Class A’s top distance runners, along with Marshwood’s Henri Rivard, Deering’s Ellis Wood and Thornton’s Ryan Bolduc. Merriam is the top Class A returner in the 1,600 (second at state meet). He was also second in the 3,200 last spring and placed sixth in the New England indoor mile.

Henri Rivard, Marshwood senior: Rivard used a punishing kick to show he was the top distance runner in Maine, and possibly New England, during the indoor season while earning Varsity Maine Indoor Track Athlete of the Year honors. He won both the 800 and mile at the Class A meet and backed that up with a New England title in the mile. Rivard is the defending Class A outdoor champ at 800.

Ellis Wood, Deering senior: Another formidable distance-running talent, Wood is the defending champ at 3,200 meters and is coming off a strong indoor season, when he was second to Henri Rivard in the mile and beat Lewiston’s Enzo Giampaolo by one-hundredth of a second to take the 2-mile.
