River Arts in Damariscotta invites members to participate in the next upcoming Members’ Show. All current and new members may submit one piece for this non-juried exhibition. Submissions are due by 4 p.m. May 16. The show will run from May 19 through July 4, with a gala opening reception from 2-4 p.m. May 23.
The Members’ Show celebrates the talent of River Arts’ member artists and showcases the wide range of art being created in Maine. River Arts welcomes all media, including but not limited to painting, sculpture, fiber, photography, ceramics, original printmaking, drawing, encaustic and pastel. Works may be representational or abstract. The show offers artists the opportunity to submit work for an impressive salon-style exhibition.
All submitted works must be for sale. River Arts retains a 35% commission on all sold work. Entry and membership forms are available at the gallery or online at riverartsme.org.
Submissions are open to all current and new members. Submitted pieces must measure no larger than 30 inches in height or width, including the frame.
Annual dues are $60 for individual artists or $90 for a household membership. Check with River Arts if you are unsure whether your membership is still active. There is a $15 hanging fee for participation in the Members’ Show.
River Arts is located at 36 Elm St. in Damariscotta. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, email [email protected], call 207-563-6868 or visit riverartsme.org.

We believe it's important to offer commenting on certain stories as a benefit to our readers. At its best, our comments sections can be a productive platform for readers to engage with our journalism, offer thoughts on coverage and issues, and drive conversation in a respectful, solutions-based way. It's a form of open discourse that can be useful to our community, public officials, journalists and others.
We do not enable comments on everything — exceptions include most crime stories, and coverage involving personal tragedy or sensitive issues that invite personal attacks instead of thoughtful discussion.
