Music Together
Rockland Public Library will host Music Together, a 45-minute early childhood music and movement for families sponsored by First National Bank, for six Saturdays through October.
Music teacher Shannon Burns will lead families in circle songs, instrument play and rhythm in this free class. Burns discovered her love of the arts at an early age — dancing, playing piano and cello, singing in choirs, and performing in plays and musicals throughout her childhood and into early adulthood. With over 20 years of experience, she has spent her career as a social worker and rehabilitation counselor supporting children, youth and their families to determine and reach their life goals.
Space is limited and is first come, first served. Sign-in starts at 10 a.m. at the front desk of the library for the 10:30 a.m. class on May 16, June 20, July 18, Aug. 15, Sept. 19 and Oct. 17. No registration in advance.
This Music Together of Midcoast Music Academy class is for ages 0–5 with caregiver(s). The class follows the recommendations of child development researchers — grouping children of a variety of ages to foster natural, family-style learning. Each child participates at his or her own level. Any caregivers — parents, grandparents, nanny — can bring the children. The whole family is welcome for this important family music experience. Midcoast Music Academy is a community music school that was founded in 2012.
