WELLS – Robert E. Norwood, 89, passed away at home in Maine on May 5, 2026. Bob was born in Biddeford, Maine, Jan. 3, 1937, the son of Albert and Violet, raised on the Norwood homestead in Biddeford. He graduated Biddeford High School in 1956 and Gorham State Teachers college in 1960.
He married Carol Dolby June 25, 1960, daughter of Mahlon and Alice Dolby. Bob resided in Windham for 40 years.
Bob taught school for over 10 years in Windham and Portland. He was Windham Schools director of transportation for eight years. He operated several businesses in Windham, including Arctic Penguin Ice company.
Bob and Carol raised four children. He traveled the country in his converted motor home before moving to Polk City, Fla. Bob was an avid Genealogist tracing ancestries on paternal and maternal families as far back as Gloucestershire, England 1822.
Bob is survived by Carol of 65 years; three daughters Debra, Tammy, Rebecca; six grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his son Timothy Norwood.
There will be no funeral services. His ashes will be buried in the family lot.
