The sun is starting to set later and social calendars are filling up. Why not devote one of your nights to playing trivia against both friends and strangers, and test your brain?

South Portland has trivia offerings during the week for the curious and knowledgeable.

Coppersmith Tavern and Table

671 Main St., Mondays at 6:30 p.m.

Don Corman hosts trivia on Mondays at 6:30 p.m, and he hosts themed games around the holidays. Prizes are awarded to first and second place winners.

Teams of up to six players can play, and there are usually about 15 teams playing. The dining room and half of the bar typically fill up.

Evie’s Ferry Village Watering Hole

121 Sawyer St., Tuesdays at 7 p.m.

In addition to pool tables, arcade games and a jukebox, this pub hosts trivia on Tuesdays from 7 to 9 p.m.

Keyko, a local performing artist, hosts the games, and teams with five people or fewer are eligible.

First place teams win a $25 gift certificate to Evie’s, and second place gets merchandise– t-shirts, beer koozies or “whatever we have in the back,” according to Jen Mowers, a bartender.

Trivia goers can also sample the specialty drinks, like a Jim Beam, pineapple and lemonade drink or a $5 sun cruiser.

Rattle Shake Grill

501 Cottage Road, Wednesdays at 7 p.m.

The burger and milkshake joint has weekly trivia at 7 p.m. on what bar manager and trivia host Travis Curran calls “Whatcha Know Wednesdays.” In the fairer weather months, teams spill out onto the patio.

“It’s definitely not your normal trivia,” he said. It’s casual, and snappy, and it’s four rounds of five questions. The last question of every round is the same theme.

“It ends at 8 and we’re in bed by 9,” he said.

The first place winner gets a $25 gift card to the grill, second place wins a choice from assorted merchandise and Goodwill puzzles and third place gets to pick the theme of the questions for the following week’s questions (and two milkshake vouchers).

“A lot of people come for me,” Curran said. “I’m really funny and charming.”

125 Western Ave., Wednesdays at 6 and 7 p.m.

The brewery has two rounds of trivia each Wednesday, one from 6 to 7 p.m. and the other from 7 to 8 p.m. The restaurant uses an app to play, and a team of up to 30 participants can join.

The first place winner earns a $20 gift card, and second place wins a $10 gift card.
