BRUNSWICK — Do the little things in the right situations.

That’s what Morse baseball coach Garrett Olson is nitpicky about during practice, because he knows that will win a playoff game in June.

Attention to detail and disciplined execution also wins games in the regular season, like Morse’s 10-4 victory over Brunswick on Monday at Bowdoin College.

The Shipbuilders (5-4) were aggressive on the basepaths, sharp with their bunts and able to escape tough defensive situations as they led the Dragons (3-8) throughout.

“We started chipping away,” Olson said. “We got a lot of guys who are willing to just do the little things in the right situation. We scored our first two runs with no hits, and then we scored our third run with one hit. Then all of a sudden we get the bases loaded, get a couple bunts down and (we’re) causing chaos. … It’s nice to see everybody contributing, one through nine.”

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Brunswick loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the first on an error and back-to-back walks, but Morse junior Oscar Gallant wasn’t fazed. The left-handed pitcher got a strikeout looking and induced a dribbler to Eli Sommers at third base. Sommers opened the scoring for the Shipbuilders in the second with a well-timed run after a dropped third strike.

• Colin Verrill scored in the top of the third after getting hit by a pitch, avoiding a close tag on a steal of second, and stealing third and taking home on an error. Edward Delano brought in Lukas Hinton on a sacrifice fly to make it 3-0.

• Brunswick catcher Wyatt Aceto reached on a bunt and took second on the play, then scored on an error. The Shipbuilders responded with bunts by Max Couture and Verrill in the fourth, and scored seven runs in the inning. Hinton hit a two-run double and Delano an RBI single through the gap. Hinton scored on a passed ball and Sommers drove in two.

• After ending the bottom of the fourth with a double play, the Shipbuilders allowed just two more Dragon baserunners and one more run (Ben Perry drove in Logan Garacia on a groundout to third). Morse shortstop Nolan Becker made the play for all three outs in the sixth inning, and reliever Christian Hallowell retired the side in the seventh.

NOTABLE QUOTABLES

• “It’s extremely hard to have teenage boys overcome adversity, and the teams that are successful are the ones that do that. We put Morse into a ton of bad situations, and then timely strikeout, timely play, they came over those adversity situations and made positives out of negatives. We definitely didn’t do that tonight in that (fourth) inning.” — Brunswick coach Matt Aceto
