The Old Orchard Beach Town Council has nominated Timothy Pellerin to serve as the next town manager.
Pellerin, currently the town manager for South Berwick, is in line to succeed Diana Asanza, who announced her plans to retire this year. Asanza has worked for the town for 14 years, including five as town manager.
Pellerin has also previously served as town manager for Rangeley and Harrison, director of emergency management for Lincoln County, deputy fire chief in Westbrook and a firefighter/EMT in Brunswick, according to a Friday news release from the town.
Town Council Chair Shawn O’Neill said in the news release that Pellerin’s years of experience, depth of knowledge and strong leadership style make him the right person to guide Old Orchard Beach forward.
“He will be an exceptional leader for our community,” O’Neill said. “We look forward to working with him as he begins this new chapter with us.”
The Town Council was scheduled to vote on Pellerin’s nomination Tuesday night. If confirmed, Pellerin would begin his role on June 1, and Asanza will retire on July 3.
Asanza said she is proud of town staff and the work they have done together.
“Old Orchard Beach has prospered because of the town’s strong financial stability due to a thoughtful, collaborative approach to budgeting and planning,” Asanza said.
O’Neill hailed Asanza for her leadership and years of dedication.
“We are incredibly grateful for her commitment and wish her the very best in this next chapter,” he said.
Pellerin said he is excited to begin his new role and eager to to serve the Old Orchard Beach community.
“I spent many years as a teenager visiting Old Orchard Beach and it truly feels welcoming to come back to this wonderful community,” he said in the news release.
