Leonard Paul “Skip” Hedglin
STEEP FALLS – Leonard Paul “Skip” Hedglin, 82, of Steep Falls, Maine, passed away peacefully on May 8, 2026. Born on Dec. 8, 1943, in New Haven, Conn., Skip brought joy and laughter to all who knew him throughout his remarkable life.
Skip was known for his quick wit and warm smile, always ready with a joke to lighten the mood. His gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued left an indelible mark on those fortunate enough to cross his path. A man of immense kindness and generosity, Skip touched countless lives with his unwavering compassion and genuine care for others.
Family was at the heart of Skip’s world. He is survived by his beloved wife, Ellen; and six daughters, Kelly (Harry), Kristen (Phil), Kara, Kasey (Steve), Sara (Matt), and Katelyn. He also leaves behind his cherished sister, Paula and her husband Sal; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews; many cousins; and honorary children who held a special place in his heart.
Skip was predeceased by his parents, Joe and Evelyn Hedglin; as well as his brother Mark.
An avid NASCAR enthusiast, Skip found joy in the thrill of the race and the camaraderie it inspired. Beyond his hobbies, he will be remembered most for the love he shared with his family—especially “his girls”—and the countless ways he made those around him feel special.
Skip’s legacy of humor, kindness, and love will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May his memory bring comfort to those who mourn his passing and inspire others to carry forward the warmth he so freely gave.
A Celebration of Life will be held on May 30, from 2 to 6 p.m., at The Vue, 310 West Shepard Ave., Hamden, CT 07514, and on June 6, from 2 to 6 p.m., at the Sheraton at Sable Oaks, 200 Sable Oaks Drive, South Portland, ME 04106. Arrangements are under the care of Dolby Blais & Segee, 434 River Rd., Windham.
