A power line issue in North Windham knocked out traffic lights along a busy stretch of Route 302 (Roosevelt Trail) on Friday.
Lights are out along the road from its intersection with Tandberg Trail (Route 115/Route 35), known as Boody’s Corner, through the area’s shopping district, the Cumberland County Regional Communications Center said in a news release just before 1 p.m.
Officials urged motorists to avoid the area while Central Maine Power works to resolve the issue, which they warned could take “an extended period.” Windham police and fire crews were also on the scene, according to the news release.
Traffic is “heavily affected” by the outage, the county communications center said. Extra traffic is expected statewide over the holiday weekend.
The town of Windham said on Facebook that the outage was a three-phase power failure affecting local businesses and traffic infrastructure.
