KENNEBUNK — She’s not the biggest, the fastest or the flashiest player on the perennially strong Kennebunk High girls lacrosse team.
But Camdyn Keenan is the person who makes everyone else happy by dealing out assists in bunches.
“As the offensive (coach), I know I want the ball in her stick,” said Kennebunk assistant coach Joe Schwartzman.
Helping others shine is what motivates Keenan, a slender 5-foot-4 senior. A top goal-scorer in her own right, it is Keenan’s passing ability aided by her feel for the game that has her fast approaching Kennebunk’s career points record.
“I just love to set people up for success,” Keenan said.
Entering Tuesday’s home game against Massabesic, Keenan had 141 goals and 176 assists for 317 career points and has been a vital two-way midfielder for the Rams, who were ranked No. 1 in the Varsity Maine Top 10 with a 10-1 record. Kennebunk reached the Class A final five of the past six seasons.
Ruby Sliwkowski holds Kennebunk’s career record with 336 points (227 goals, 109 assists). Sliwkowski, a USA Lacrosse honorable mention All-American and All-Ivy League pick this spring at Brown University, set the record in three seasons, including Varsity Maine Player of the Year campaigns in 2022 and 2023.
As a freshman starter, Keenan played with Sliwkowski when the Rams earned their third straight unbeaten Class A championship.
“It was so awesome to play with her,” Keenan said.
Also on the team was Keenan’s older sister, Calia, a defender who just finished her sophomore season at Assumption College.
Camdyn Keenan, who is in the top 10% of Kennebunk’s senior class, has committed to play at Florida Institute of Technology in Daytona, which competes in the Sunshine State Conference, one of the country’s best in Division II.
Also a multi-year starter on the Kennebunk soccer team, Keenan said lacrosse has been her first athletic love since she started playing in second grade, with her mom as the coach and her sister on the team. She’s been a four-year starter for Kennebunk, leading the Rams in scoring as a sophomore (34 goals, 39 assists) and earning All-America and Varsity Maine All-State honors as a junior, when she scored 56 goals to go with 90 assists. Through her first 11 games this season, having switched to midfield after playing attack her first three seasons, Keenan has 22 goals and 36 assists.

“She’s a very good lacrosse player. She has a very high IQ,” said Kennebunk coach Annie Barker. “She really understands every aspect of the game. She can drive and she is a very accurate feeder. So, try to shut her down, it’s very hard.
“She’s very patient. She’s smart. And she has the stick skills to do it with,” Barker added.
Prior to Kennebunk’s 8-6 loss at home against defending state champion Windham, Keenan was recognized for topping the 300-point plateau in a three-goal, four-assist effort at Bonny Eagle.
“It honestly feels really good that most of my points are assists. I know I can set my teammates up and be a team player,” Keenan said that afternoon after a three-assist effort against Windham.
Kennebunk does not lose often. In fact, the Rams have lost twice in the last two seasons. The other loss was also to Windham in the 2025 state championship game. Keenan said this year’s regular-season setback, in which Windham jumped ahead quickly and controlled the tempo throughout — can be a game to learn from.
“Just focusing on the next-play mentality and taking a deep breath and resetting and trying to keep everyone else composed and together,” Keenan said.
