A local nurse was recently recognized for her service at MaineHealth Mid Coast Hospital’s Family Birth Center.

The hospital presented Danielle Peart, RN II, with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses on May 8 in recognition of her compassionate care. Peart was honored during a presentation on the maternity ward for the meaningful impact she had on a patient and family during labor, delivery and recovery. She was nominated by a patient who described Peart’s calm, supportive presence throughout care.

“She greeted us with such a warm demeanor and immediately made us feel at ease,” the patient wrote in their nomination. The patient also noted her steady reassurance during labor, adding, “In the mix of the chaos and pain, her voice felt grounding.”

The nomination highlighted Peart’s consistent compassion and support throughout the experience, with the patient writing that “her kindness was not conditional, it was present during moments of laughter, chaos, pain and excitement.”

The DAISY Award recognizes nurses who demonstrate extraordinary clinical skill and compassionate care that makes a lasting difference for patients and families.
