Barry J. Wheeler
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Barry J. Wheeler, 77, of Winston-Salem, N.C., passed away on May 14, 2026.
Born on April 9, 1949, in Lewiston, Maine, Barry was the son of the late Walter and Jean Wheeler of Topsham. He graduated from Lisbon High School and went on to serve in the United States Air National Guard. He later earned an engineering degree from Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute.
Barry spent the majority of his career managing teams at New England Telephone, where his leadership and technical expertise were highly valued.
A man of deep Christian faith, Barry became a Reverend and devoted his later years to studying the Bible and teaching others about a life filled with Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Cathie Reynolds; his sister, Carol Edwards, and her husband Paul, along with their children Charity and Ben; his eldest son, Stephen Wheeler, and wife Charlene, with their daughters Elizabeth and Rachel, all of Hardy, Va.; and his youngest son, Andrew Wheeler, and wife Amanda, with their daughter Abigail, all of Hollis. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Linda Wheeler, of Topsham.
Barry is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A private memorial service will be held on June 7, in Virginia at his son Stephen’s church. An additional memorial service will take place on July 31, at The Rock Church in Scarborough.
