Denis Franklin Cole
LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Denis Franklin Cole, 73, passed away unexpectedly on May 22, 2026, in Las Vegas, Nev.
Born on July 1, 1952, in Falmouth, Maine, to Donald and Mildred Cole, Denis graduated from Falmouth High School in 1971, where he excelled in athletics, playing soccer, competing in track and field, and earning recognition for a state-record triple jump. Basketball was perhaps his greatest passion, and friends and teammates fondly remembered his ability to sink shots from the corner. He later attended Thomas College.
Denis spent much of his career as a commercial truck driver in the Greater Portland area before becoming a Class A Driving Instructor and later a risk management consultant. After retiring to Las Vegas, Nev., he enjoyed working as a Lyft driver and meeting people from all walks of life.
Denis is survived by his wife, Mary DuRoss Cole; daughters Emily Cole and Elizabeth Thorpe (Matt), son, Eric Adams, stepson, Sloan; brother, David Cole (Debbie); niece, Michelle and nephew, Matthew.
Known for his sense of humor, competitive spirit, and gift for conversation, Denis never met a stranger and left lasting memories with everyone fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed.
A private service will be held this summer.
