Geraldine E. (McMannis) Colpritt

SCARBOROUGH – Geraldine E. McMannis Colpritt “Gerry”, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend, peacefully passed away on July 20, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on March 23, 1943, in Portland, Maine, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Margaret winch McMannis. Gerry’s life was a testament to strength, love, and unwavering dedication to her family and community.

ln September 1961, Gerry married the love of her life, Daniel “Bub” Colpritt. Their union was blessed with three sons, David Colpritt of Florida, Michael Colpritt of Scarborough, and Matthew Colpritt of Scarborough, who were a constant source of pride and joy for her. Also, grandson, Joshua Colpritt, and great-grandson, Jordan Colpritt.

Gerry was predeceased by her husband, Daniel; her parents; her sisters Catherine Colpritt and Sharon Jackson, her brothers Charles Veit Jr. and Michael Veit, and her special sister-in-law, Arlene Colpritt.

She is survived by her brother, John Veit of Saco, and her sister, Rose Veit, along with many nieces and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Graduating from Portland High in 1961, Gerry embarked on a career marked by hard work and dedication. She worked her entire life, from the bustling Portland waterfront to the Maine Medical Center, Scarborough Downs and Bank Boston. Her warm smile and genuine care for her customers were well-known at the 8 Corners Market, and she finally retired from the Coast Guard Exchange in 2020. Her quick wit and candid nature made her the “go-to” mom and aunt for many, offering advice and support, even when it wasn’t what one wanted to hear.

Gerry’s zest for life was evident in her love for scratch tickets, casino visits, and, above all, shopping. Her laughter and spirit were infectious, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she met.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the compassionate staff at Portland Assisted Living and Pine Point Nursing Center for their dedicated care during the last years of Gerry’s life.

A graveside gathering will be held at Scarborough Memorial Cemetery, Old Blue Point Road Scarborough, Aug. 1, at 11 a.m. We will celebrate Gerry’s life, where her family and friends will gather to reflect on the memories they shared and the profound impact she had on their lives. Gerry will be dearly missed, yet her spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
