PORTLAND — Catholic schools in Maine will have a new superintendent, effective July 1.
James King, a native of Akron, Ohio, was named to the position by Bishop Robert Deeley. He will succeed the Rev. Louis J. Phillips, who has served as interim superintendent since July 1, 2014.
King is now interim director of elementary schools for the National Catholic Educational Association. Previously he was principal of the St. Matthew Parish School in Akron, principal of the St. Martin of Tours School in Maple Heights, Ohio, and a middle school teacher at four schools in Florida.
He is also earning his Ph.D. in Catholic Educational Leadership from the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C.
