PORTLAND — Improvements planned by the city to Cumberland Avenue lighting and sidewalks will be discussed March 6 at 6 p.m. at Avesta Housing, 307 Cumberland Ave.
Plans call for replacing sidewalks and lighting on the north side of Cumberland Avenue, from Preble to Mechanic streets. Avesta Housing is planning similar improvements as part of its housing project from Mechanic Street to Forest Avenue.
Pedestrian crossings along Cumberland Avenue will also be upgraded. The work, expected to be completed this year, is funded through a Community Development Block Grant and the city capital improvements budget.
