Walking through a forest, it is easy to notice the trees and maybe even some of the wildlife, but a forest is more than what lives there. A forest is defined by all its relationships, the connections between the trees, wildlife, soils, climate, and geologic history.

The examination of these relationships will be the focus of a Forest Ecology walk at Pondicherry Park on Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. Join Lakes Environmental Association’s educator and conservation biologist Bridie McGreavy for an ecological exploration of Pondicherry Park.

Meet at the LEA Lakes Center to carpool. Participants should wear comfortable walking shoes and bring water. The walk will cover easy terrain and will last approximately two hours. The walk is free for LEA members and $5 for non-members. This program is part of the Caplan Family Environmental Education Series at LEA. For more information on this and other programs in the series, call 647-8580 or visit the LEA Web site at www.mainelakes.org.
