Buxton Police Chief Jody Thomas is the recent recipient of the “Outstanding Contribution to Law Enforcement Award” from the Maine Chiefs of Police Association.
The award recognized Thomas, Sergeant-at-Arms of the chiefs’ association, for her dedication and commitment to her profession. A letter signed by Chief Douglas Bracy, president of the chiefs association, and Chief Richard Pickett, awards committee chairman, cited three high profile cases handled by Thomas’ department in 2007.
They were the case of missing teenager Coreen Wiese; the elderly traffic fatality victim, Ethel Lewis; and the state’s largest seizure of dogs in the so-called puppy mill case.
“The citizens of Maine and members of the law enforcement profession are extremely proud of your efforts and accomplishments,” the letter read.
