Musical opens this weekend

The Gorham High School presentation of “West Side Story” opens at 7:30 p.m. Friday and continues through a matinee at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, March 22, in the McCormack Performing Arts Center in the school, 41 Morrill Ave.

The show features four evening performances at 7:30 p.m. on March 13, 14, 20 and 21. The curtain goes up on two matinees at 2:30 p.m. on Sundays, March 15 and 22.

Tickets are $9; students and seniors, $6. To reserve tickets call 839-5754.

Cross earns honors

Emily L. Cross has been named to second honors on the dean’s list at Clark University in Worcester, Mass. Cross, a 2006 graduate of Gorham High School, is a member of the class of 2010 at the university.

Masterson on dean’s list

Kathleen C. Masterson has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Saint Anselm College in Manchester, N.H. A graduate of Gorham High School in 2006, Masterson is a member of the class of 2010.

Grange century old

North Scarboro Grange 495 on County Road (Route 22), Scarborough, will host an open meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday in observance of its 100th anniversary. A potluck supper at 6:15 p.m. will precede the meeting.

Founded in 1909, it has served Gorham, lower Buxton and Westbrook in addition to Scarborough.

U. S. taxpayer debt

The Bureau of Public Debt reported on March 5 that the U.S. public debt was $10,953,034,411,520.15.
