Nomination papers at town office

Nomination papers are now available for the town’s annual election of municipal officials, June 10.

The current seats of selectmen Jean Harmon, chairwoman, and Bob Libby will be open. According to Town Clerk John Myers, the available, elected posts are:

Two selectmen, assessors and overseers of the poor for three years; town clerk, three years; one tax collector, three years; one director for School Administrative District 6 for three years; one director for SAD 6 for one year; two Planning Board members for three years; one Personnel Review Committee member for three years; one Personnel Review Committee member for two years; one Personnel Review Committee member for one year; four Budget Committee members for three years; one Budget Committee member for two years; and one Budget Committee member for one year.

Myers said nominations require the signature of 25 registered Buxton voters. All candidate nomination papers must be returned to the town clerk’s office by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, April 28.

Scholarship indoor yard sale

A spring indoor yard sale, sponsored by the Limington Extension, will be held Saturday, April 12, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., inside the Limington Town Hall, Route 11.

Items include many new things, appliances, clothing, candy, household items and bug spray, as well as lots of flea market items and hundreds of 25-cent items. The event is a fundraiser for Bonny Eagle High School scholarships. For more information, call Karen at 642-3508.

Cemetery Association to meet

The South Buxton Cemetery Association (Tory Hill) will hold its Annual Meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 15, at the Buxton Town Hall, 185 Portland Road.

All lot owners, representatives and interested parties are welcome and encouraged to attend. Members in attendance will elect officers and directors, reports will be received and an auditor will be selected, along with any other business.

There will be a meeting of the board of directors directly preceding the annual meeting at 6 p.m.
