Friends give library $1,000

At its Valentine’s Day tea last month, Friends of Walker Memorial Library presented the library with $1,000 in memory of the late Dianne LeConte, a longtime member of the library staff.

The money goes to the library’s restoration fund.

Kelly Day, executive board member of Walker Memorial Library Friends, thanked staff, volunteers, trustees and benefactors. Day said My Lady’s Tea Room & Antique Shop, 888 Main St., in Westbrook donated “beautiful” china cups, saucers and serving displays for the tea.

More than 80 attended the annual tea held at the library. “The afternoon was so lovely – it was an enjoyable tea for all,” Day said in a statement.

The Friends of the Walker Memorial Library meets from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on the fourth Thursday of the month in the glass room on the second floor of the library, 810 Main St. Visitors are welcome to attend.
