Weiss in library workshop

Westbrook poet David C. Weiss is holding a special poetry workshop 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, at Walker Memorial Library.

The workshop is titled “telling Our Story, Singing Our Song.” It’s an experimental workshop and no poetry writing experience is required.

Memorial Day parade registration

Westbrook is accepting registrations for the annual Memorial Day parade on Monday, May 25, in each community.

To register, contact Rose Harriman, manager of American Legion Post 62, at 318-1207. The deadline for registrations is Wednesday, May 20.

McKay on Lincoln Center stage

Kyle McKay, a Westbrook native and senior music education major in the School of Music at Ithaca College, recently performed at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall with the Ithaca College Choir, Wind Ensemble and Contemporary Ensemble.

McKay is a 2011 graduate of Westbrook High School.

Titled “MusIC of Our Time,” the program presented a blend of contemporary and new works.

Since the early 1970s, the School of Music has sponsored nine concerts at Lincoln Center, showcasing the high level of innovation and artistry among the school’s faculty and students in one of the most prestigious venues in New York City.
