Local food pantries are in dire need of supplies and funds, and several local organizations are helping.
The Cape Elizabeth/South Portland Rotary, and the Cape Elizabeth High School Interact, National Honor Society and Volunteer clubs are sponsoring a food drive on Saturday, April 4, from 9 a.m.-noon.
Specific needs include toilet paper, paper towels, cereal, peanut butter, jelly, canned fruit, canned vegetables, tuna fish, bar soap, dish soap, baked beans, spaghetti sauce, pasta and quick-cooking rice. Cash donations are also welcome.
Volunteers will be collecting donations door to door. Items and cash donations can also be brought to the high school Achievement Center during regular school hours. Donations will also be taken at the main entrance of the high school on Saturday.
