I want to request (and maybe that’s not a strong enough sentiment) that you stop at red lights. That may sound ridiculous – everyone knows that you have to stop at a red light, right? I have noticed over the past year or so that more and more drivers are speeding up to make it through yellow and red lights.

Perhaps some intersections are more susceptible to this, but I have seen this happen in small towns and in the city. This has become such a regular occurrence that I no longer confidently step on the gas when the light turns green, but rather continue to look in all directions, almost expecting a motorist to be speeding through the intersection.

I am sure that if you are rushing to work, to drop the kids off, to get to the supermarket, etc., you will want to get there in one piece, secure in the knowledge that you have not injured yourself or others.

If for no other reason than protecting yourself and your passengers, please, don’t “run the light.”
