Rifle champ re-enlists

U.S. Army Spec. George K. Norton has re-enlisted in the U.S. Army for six years.

Norton is the son of Joel K. Norton of Lawrence Street, Westbrook, and Helen H. Norton of Spring, Texas.

The soldier is a 2002 graduate of St. John’s Military School, Salina, Kan. He is an international rifle shooter/instructor and information management specialist assigned to the Army Marksmanship Unit at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.

Norton has served in the military three years. He started rifle shooting in 1999 and has earned the title of 2003 Mid-Western Conference Sectional Champion.

Driscoll on dean’s list

Jacqueline R. Driscoll, Westbrook, has been named to the dean’s list at Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, Ga., for the fall quarter.

Kelly excels at Clemson

Shane Kelly has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester at Clemson University in South Carolina.

A freshman, Kelly is a graduate of Westbrook High School. Kelly is the son of Matthew Kelly and Jennifer Lawrence, both of Westbrook. Anita and Philip Rondeau of Windham, formerly Westbrook, are grandparents.

Historians to meet

The Westbrook Historical Society will meet at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 2, in its headquarters on the second floor at 17 Dunn St. Members of the public are invited to attend.

Legion meets monthly

The Stephen W. Manchester Post 62 of the American Legion meets at 6 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month at 17 Dunn St.
