Chopin Club to perform at library
The Chopin Club will entertain when Walker Memorial Library, 800 Main St., hosts its annual holiday open house 3-7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8.
Besides holiday music, goodies will be served and the event features a traditionally decorated Victorian Christmas tree.
Schools earn
healthy honors
Four Westbrook schools will be among several Maine schools recognized by the U.S. Department of Agriculture for healthy school environments in an award ceremony 3-5 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 8, Hannaford Hall at the University of Southern Maine, 88 Bedford St, Portland.
Westbrook elementary schools earning bronze awards are Canal, Congin, Prides Corner and Saccarappa. They are among 35 Maine public schools that, according to a statement, “create healthier school environments by providing exceptional nutrition education, nutritious food and beverage choices, physical education and opportunities for physical activity.”
Kevin Concannon, USDA Under Secretary for Food, Nutrition and Consumer Services, will present the awards.
Music alumni reunion
The first-ever Westbrook High School Music Alumni Reunion will be held on Sunday, Aug. 4, at Westbrook High School.
The reunion is open to any Westbrook High School alumni who participated in concert band, wind ensemble, marching band, jazz/stage band, color guard or chorus. There is no cost to attend.
Planned activities are a reception, open house and potluck supper from 4-7 p.m., followed by an alumni band concert at 7 p.m. and continued social time until 9 p.m.
