The Brackett Street Post Office was built in 1935 at 19 Brackett St., left photo, and served the community along with a branch office that leased space in the Warren Block at Cumberland Mills. Both of these facilities were closed when the new Post Office at 775 Main St. opened in 1978. The Brackett Street building was sold and became an office building for Pratt Insurance Co. until relocating to 969 Main St. The building is vacant and was recently sold to an undisclosed buyer.
