Remembering Anne Frank

The Gorham High School Drama Club production of “And Then They Came For Me: Remembering Anne Frank” will be presented in the Performing Arts Center at Gorham High School, 41 Morrill Ave., Friday through Saturday, Nov. 15.

Times and dates are at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 7; Saturday, Nov. 8; Friday, Nov. 14; and Saturday, Nov. 15; and a matinee at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov.9.

James Still wrote the play. Frank, a young Jewish girl who kept a diary, was a victim of the Holocaust during World War II.

Self-defense for mature adults

The Gorham Recreation Department has scheduled a two-hour class designed to teach mature adults 55 and up the skills needed to avoid a confrontation, scare off a potential attacker and fight back, if necessary, Thursday, Nov. 13, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Cost is $20 with a minimum of seven and 15 maximum registrations.

Instructor Toby Plourde holds black belts in various styles of karate, kung fu and t’ai chi and has taught self-defense courses in New Hampshire, Florida, Massachusetts and Maine. Register at Gorham Recreation Department or online at www.gorhamrec.com by Thursday, Nov. 6.

Annual fete

Steve and Rebecca Murray recently hosted their annual party for neighbors, friends and family in their home and yard on Longfellow Road.

Guests included her parents, Dexter and Nancy Young of Woodstock, Conn., and his father, Bill Murray of Phippsburg, who roasted, carved and served a whole pig.

U.S. taxpayer debt

The Bureau of Public Debt reported on Oct. 29 that the U.S. public debt was $10,525,823,144,117.64.
