Bonny Eagle senior Kayle Hamilton scored three goals and tallied an assist Tuesday night to reach 100 points in his career for the Bonny Eagle hockey team. Hamilton is the first defenseman to reach the milestone. Nate Jewell and Travis Dunn each reached the 100 point mark as forwards.
Hamilton entered the season with 65 total points in his career and averaged about two points per game. Last Friday night against Massabesic/OOB, he scored a goal in the second period to bring his total to 96 with two games left.
Saturday in a 5-4 loss to Deering, Hamilton was held without any points. That meant he would need four on senior night against Marshwood/Traip. Hamilton didn’t disappoint, recording a hat trick and assisting on a goal in a 10-1 win.
“Kayle is having a great season and has had a great career here at Bonny Eagle,” said Scots coach Dave Petterson. “In his first season we were 5-13, then 10-8. Last year we were 14-5. He’s been part of a fantastic resurgence of hockey here at BE. He’s become a good leader and very talented player. He’s a strong presence offensively coming from his defensive position, and is a major force on our power play.”
The Scots will rely on that leadership and scoring ability from Hamilton as they enter the tournament with a school-best 16-2 record. The Scots should enter the tournament as the fourth seed and would host a quarter final round game.
