The Re-use Committee for the Wescott Junior High building will be cranking up again in February. The two committee co-chairs, Jim Violette and Al Juniewicz, have been meeting with a small core group in an effort to get some vital information together to share with the larger committee.

What we need now is to pull together all interested groups and organizations that may have an interest in having a presence in some of the space available in the building.

Anyone or any group that wants to present ideas for the future re-use of the building once our new middle school is constructed is urged to contact Michelle Mecteaux at City Hall (854-9105) and provide her with contact information. Even if you have expressed an earlier interest in being a part of this committee, please re-confirm that interest so we have your updated information. Then, as soon as the next meeting date is set, we will be certain to provide ample notice to you so you can attend the meeting and take part in the discussion.

The potential uses for this site are numerous, but there may well be numerous competing interests for perhaps limited available space. We need to know what those are so we can make good decisions and recommendations back to you, the taxpayers, who will most likely be asked to pay for some renovation expenses. We have time before recommendations and decisions have to be made, but we need to move the process along. I want your help and input along the way so we make the best use of that building.
