After 33 years as a Westbrook call firefighter, Paul Roy retired earlier this month.

“It’s hard to keep call firefighters around 10 years, let alone 33,” Westbrook Fire Chief Gary Littlefield said at a City Council meeting Monday, when he recognized Roy.

Roy, 61, works in industrial sales for AC Electric Corp. in Auburn. Though he will continue working at his day job, Roy is leaving his position with the fire department because he and his wife, Janice, are moving to Gorham.

“It’s a learning experience every day,” Roy said Tuesday about being a call firefighter.

The city also recognized Finance Director Sue Rossignol, who recently celebrated 30 years as a Westbrook employee.
