The Westbrook boys’ tennis team continued its assault on the competition with a 4-1 win over Gorham on Monday. The Blue Blazes swept the three singles matches and split the doubles matches with the Rams.

In the first singles match, Eben Perkins was victorious, 6-2, 2-6, 6-4, over Aaron Bergeron. Brian Cooke followed that up with a 7-5, 6-2 win over Isaac Pease to give the Blazes two points of the three points they would need for the win.

Westbrook clinched the victory when David Born won his singles match in straight sets, 6-0, 6-1.

The Blazes won the No. 1 doubles match thanks to the team of Jacob LaViolet and Alex Foster.

The Blazes are still undefeated at 6-0. They were ranked second in this week’s West A Heal Point standings. They were scheduled to face South Portland on Wednesday.

Rams topple Westbrook

The Westbrook girls dropped their fourth straight match, 4-1, to Gorham on Monday. Chelsea Norton picked up the only Westbrook win.

In singles competition, Gorham’s Kate Bowring downed EmJay Williams 7-5, 6-0. In match two, Westbrook’s Norton knocked off Gorham’s Kelsey Wilson, 6-0, 6-3. And in the day’s final singles match, the Rams added a point when Libby Johnson defeated Meghan Quigley, 7-6 (7-3), 6-1.

The Rams also swept the two doubles matches.

The Blazes are 2-5 and they were scheduled to host Kennebunk on Friday.

Stags stop Scots

The Bonny Eagle boys’ tennis team lost their sixth straight match, 5-0, to Cheverus.

James Hanley, Darren Choate and Peter Durgin battled, but each fell to their Cheverus opponent.

In the doubles round, the pair of Patrick Avery and Dylan Watters dropped a 6-1, 6-3 decision. And in the day’s final doubles match, Benjamin Hall and Sean Rothgaber competed well before losing 6-2, 6-3.

The Scots are 1-6 on the season. They were scheduled to host Marshwood on Wednesday.

The Bonny Eagle girls’ tennis team is struggling with an 0-6 start after a 5-0 loss to Cheverus on Monday. Like the boys, the Stags swept all five girls matches.

Maria Hall, Karli Kesson and Chelsea Kennie did their best, but were unable to secure a point in the singles competitions.

And Cheverus’ duos stopped the Bonny Eagle doubles teams of Lindsey Campbell and Erynn Brayley, 6-2, 6-2, and Kristen MacLean and Danielle Napolitano, 6-0, 6-2.

They were scheduled to take on Marshwood on Wednesday in hopes of picking up win number one.
