Gorham art fair
The first Gorham Art Fair will be held 10 a.m.-6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27, at Robie Gym on South Street. The fair will feature an art sale and live music.
Church rummage sale
A two-day rummage sale will be held at Cressey Road United Methodist Church, Route 25, one mile west of the village.
The sale will be 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19, and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 20. Items include clothes, dishes, books, furniture, toys, puzzles, Halloween costumes, small appliances and houseplants. Fill a grocery bag for a buck at 11 a.m. Saturday. United Methodist Women is sponsoring the sale.
GB&CE ‘Meet the Candidates’
The Gorham Business & Civic Exchange presents its annual “Meet the Candidates,” Thursday, Nov. 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Gorham Savings Bank Operations Center, off Route 202.
The business exchange has invited all candidates seeking election for Gorham’s town council to join an informal panel discussion. followed by questions from the audience. Introductions are by Town Clerk Christina Silberman, and moderated by James Lockman of the business exchange.
Each candidate will be given three minutes to introduce themselves. After all the introductions are completed, questions will be invited from the audience. Time is somewhat limited, as the meeting will close at 1 p.m.
The invited town council candidates (three seats) are Phillip A. Csoros, Phillip A. Dugas, David J. Homa, Norman E. Justice, Burleigh Loveitt, Noah F. Miner, Matthew J. Robinson and Russell C. Sprague.
The event is offered at no charge and is open to the public. Members and guests are invited and asked to bring their own brown bag lunch. Beverages will be provided and free parking is available.

Murrays annual roast
Stephen and Rebecca Murray, Longfellow Road, hosted their annual pig roast for family, neighbors and friends on Oct. 13.
Besides the pork, a wide selection of dishes served buffet style included smoked salmon and turkey along with a variety of desserts.
A large contingent of guests included Rebecca’s parents, Dexter and Nancy Young, Woodstock, Conn., and Stephen’s dad, Bill Murray, Phippsburg, who oversees the annual roasting.
Gardeners plan harvest supper
Gorham Garden Club will meet for a harvest supper at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 30, in the First Parish Congregational Church.
Those attending the potluck supper will dine on the fruits of summer gardens. Everyone is asked to take something to eat, which can be shared, and each will serve as a hostess.

U.S. taxpayer debt
The Bureau of Public Debt reported on Oct. 11 that the U.S. public debt was $9,042,951,429,732.49.
