On behalf of the Friends of the Scarborough Library, a sincere thanks to one and all for their wonderful support of the 2006 Book and Bake Sale held recently.

Attendance was high and the sale netted more than $9,000, which will be used to support the Library. A tent set up by One Stop Party Shoppe housed some of the approximately 20,000 quality books, which were donated this year. Members of the Scarborough Police Department offered child seat safety checks and free bike helmets as families came through. We thank all involved, including the many residents who helped to sort the books this spring, donated baked goods or lent a hand over the weekend.

We are once again indebted to the Scarborough Public Works Department, whose employees are extremely helpful each year in assisting with our storage and transportation needs. Without their ongoing support, the book sale would not be possible!

We wish you many lazy summer afternoons of reading, whether books from the book sale or nice cool visits to the library! Thanks again for your support.

Casey McKeown,

president, Friends of the Scarborough Public Library
