Toys for kids needed
The city of Westbrook is seeking donations of cash and/or toys for this year’s Toys for Kids Program.
This program offers families, who are struggling, an opportunity to give their children a better Christmas than they might otherwise be able to do. Donations can be dropped off at City Hall during regular business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., at 2 York St.
Deadline for donations is Tuesday. For more information, contact Michelle Mecteaux at 591-8110.
Be a judge
An art reception an awards presentation will be 5-8 p.m. on Friday at Westbrook Picture Frame & Fine Arts Gallery, 869 Main St., for a miniature art show and juried competition that continues through Saturday, Dec. 29.
The art show, which opened Nov. 19, features works by 20 artists. The public is invited to vote for the People’s Choice Award. For more information, call 857-3864.
Apt, Hutton wedding
The beach at Sanibel Island was the setting for a July 21 wedding of Kelly L. Apt and Adam M. Hutton. A reception followed at Thistle Lodge, Casa Ybel Resort.
The bride is the daughter of George and Patricia Apt of Westbrook. The bridegroom is the son of Dorothy Cady, Peaks Island, and Gary Hutton, Port Charlotte, Fla.
The matron of honor was Kelly A. Apt and the best man was Kevin S. Apt. The flower girl was Kaylin Apt and the ring bearer was Kaleb Apt.
The bride is a graduate of Westbrook High School and Plymouth State College in New Hampshire. She is a teacher at Crystal River Primary School in Florida.
The bridegroom is a graduate of Foxcroft Academy and the University of Maine. He is attending the State University of Florida. He’s employed by the Florida Department of Vocational Rehabilitation and the Centers.
The couple is residing in Citrus Springs, Fla.
Birthday observance
Donna Leclair celebrated her 40th birthday on Nov. 27. Her husband, Mark, with their children Heath, Reece and Courtney surprised her with a party at the home of Harry “Bud” and Jeanne Leclair, Methodist Road.
Others attending were Donna’s dad, Vaino “Eddie” Waisanen, Westbrook; sister, Tavia Wirths and nephew, Jeremy Wirths, both of Falmouth; sister Tonya Spaulding and partner Kim Volk, and niece, Sophie Spaulding-Volk, Portland; brother Kevin Spaulding, Westbrook; aunts Irene Leclair and Harriet Caron, both of Westbrook; cousins Tom and Marylou Roche, Ron, Sue, Ryan and Katie Bertin, and Lisa and Caron Tanguay, all of Gorham; and Tom and Sundy Roche, Westbrook.

Post 197 hosts dignitaries
Westbrook Memorial Post 197 of the American Legion was honored with recent visits from the legion’s national commander and national auxiliary president.
Martin Conatser visited in November and Jan Pulvermacher-Ryan came in October. Both were given tours of the post and each spoke briefly about efforts being made in Washington regarding funds for the Veterans Administration.
Pulvermacher-Ryan said her project for the upcoming year is scholarships for children of soldiers.
