In reference to the July 26 editorial, “Spare state another tax debate”:

In the first place it is not the state that antes up with the money, it is the taxpayers. The very last paragraph is where you missed the boat! Nowhere did I see anything about cutting spending. Now wouldn’t this accomplish the same thing?

The present Democrat-dominated Legislature does not know the meaning of cutting spending. They continually dream up more ways to spend our hard-earned tax dollars, and Maine certainly is not a state that can continue to fund expensive programs that do not work. Since Muskie, Curtis and others of their ilk have been in office it has been just more and more spending.
