March 18-19: Schoolhouse Arts Center at Sebago Lake will present Mike Harris performing his one-man show, “My Mother, My Father and My Mother,” in Schoolhouse’s Blackbox Theater at 7:30 p.m. $5 donation requested. All proceeds go to benefit the “Save Our Schoolhouse” campaign. Tickets can be reserved by calling 642-3743 or online at www.schoolhousearts.org. Schoolhouse Arts Center is located on Route 114, just north of the intersection of routes 114 and 35, in Sebago Lake Village.

March 19: A Spring Craft Fair will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Jordan-Small Middle School in Raymond. It is a fundraiser for the 8th grade class. Students hope to earn enough money for a trip to Canobie Lake Park in Salem, N.H. Over 30 artists and craft vendors will be participating in the Fair and selling everything from stained glass and garden stones to hand-made soaps and baskets, photography and knitted goods. Homemade baked goods and lunch will be available for purchase. Try your hand at a Make & Take project or your luck at several raffles. Admission is free.

Sunday, March 20: The USM Chamber Singers will present a one-hour concert at the Cressey Road United Methodist Church (67 Cressey Road, Gorham) at 2 p.m. The concert will be one in a series of performances in preparation for the group’s May tour of Andalusia, Spain. The concert will feature a cappella motets from the European sacred tradition, a group of love songs by American and French composers, African-American spirituals and Eric Whitacre’s “Leonardo Dreams of His Flying Machine.” Donation is $5 each or a maximum of $10 per family. All proceeds fund the Singer’s tour in Spain. Refreshments follow the concert.

March 20: Welcome our first spring day, when the sun crosses directly over the Earth’s equator, with a sunrise hike up Bald Pate Mountain in South Bridgton hosted by Loon Echo Land Trust. Wear appropriate warm clothing and boots, and bring water, snacks, flashlight and snowshoes (a few pairs will be available upon request). Meet at 6 a.m. in the Bald Pate Mountain parking lot. Monday, March 21: Ben Sprague, a Bangor native and financial planner, will speak about his book “Buy, Hold, Sell: A Disciplined Guide to Investment Success” at 5:30 p.m. at Harrison Village Library. Through his book, Sprague seeks to help the individual investor who may be unsure of how to proceed in today’s volatile environment. The book offers a strategy to prevent investors from making many common investing mistakes. In the event of a storm closure, the program will be rescheduled to Wednesday, March 23, at the same time. Tuesday, March 22: Schoolhouse Arts Center’s Spring Arts Classes start March 22. There are classes for everyone from preschool through adult including Voice I for ages 7-12, Voice II for ages 13 and up, Beginning Guitar I and II for ages 7 and up, Intermediate Guitar for ages 10 and up, Storybook Theater for ages 6-10, Acting for ages 11 and up, Teen Improv for ages 14-18, Adult Improv for ages 18 and up, Music & Movement for ages 3-4, Ballet I for ages 4-6, Ballet II for ages 4-7, Tap for ages 5-7, Hip Hop for ages 8-14, Adult Jazz for ages 15 and up, Screen Printing for Kids for ages 10 and up, Mask-Making for Kids for ages 4 and up, and Drawing 101 for ages 12 and up. There will also be a Stagecraft Workshop held on April 20-21 and a Spring Theater Camp from April 18-22. Spring arts classes are held on a weekly basis for 9 weeks (until May 27). Tuition for classes ranges from $55 to $95 for the 9-week session. Schoolhouse is located just north of the intersection of Route 114 and Route 35 in Sebago Lake Village. Friday, March 25: The Athletics Department at Saint Joseph’s College offer its Kids Night Out program at the Harold Alfond Recreation Center on campus. (The program is normally held on Saturdays, but this month is on Friday.) The event, open to children ages 7-13, sponsors games, movies, swimming, rock climbing, arts & crafts and sports. The program goes from 5:30-9 p.m. The price will be $9 per child and $6 for each additional child from the same family. Kids Night Out is sponsored and supervised by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at Saint Joseph’s College. On-site registration on the evening of the event (no pre-registration required). Saturday, March 26: Tickets are on sale now for “The Wizard of Oz”. Children and adults will enjoy this well-loved full-length producing featuring over 60 talented kids aged 5 though 16. Tickets are $9/$6 and are available online at www.fiddleheadcenter.org and at the door. Performances are Saturdays on March 19 and 26 at 7 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. on March 20 and 27 at 2 p.m. at the G-NG High School theater.
