Memorial Day signup

The Memorial Day parade will line up at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 27, at the Village School.

There is no charge to participate. Floats and units interested in participating in Gorham’s Memorial Day parade should contact Gorham Recreation Department at 222-1630.

Woman’s club meeting delayed

The annual meeting of the Gorham Woman’s Club will be postponed one week because of the Maine State Federation conference on Thursday and Friday, May 9 and 10.

Gorham Woman’s Club members will meet at noon on Thursday, May 16, at noon for lunch at the Main Street Grill in Standish. Committee reports are due at that time. Hostesses are Gloria Tewhey, Rosalie Barden and Marie Woodbrey.

Free concert series

White Rock Baptist Church, 300 Sebago Lake Road, in Gorham is hosting a series of summer gospel concerts at 6:30 p.m. on the third Saturday from May through Sept. 21.

The series gets under way on May 18 with The Lighthouse Jubilees featuring vocalists Angela Guillette and Pat McLellan. The concert is an evening of patriotic music in observance of Armed Forces Day.

Recycling reminder

Gorham Community Electronic Waste Recycling Day is 8 a.m.-noon on Saturday, May 11, in the upper parking lot behind the Public Safety Building, 270 Main St.

Cumberland County Volunteers sponsors the free event but donations will be accepted. Items include TVs, computers, monitors, scanners and cell phones.

Gorham dancers in ‘Alice in Wonderland’

Five Gorham dancers are performing in the upcoming Maine State Ballet productions of “Alice in Wonderland” at Merrill Auditorium in Portland.

Shows are at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, and Sunday, May 12. Dancers from Gorham are Nathaniel Dombek, Charlotte Feinberg, Kate Larkin, Kristin Larkin, and Marissa Patten-Harris.

They are among nearly 100 Maine State Ballet dancers under the direction of artistic director and former New York City Ballet member Linda MacArthur Miele.
